If Mercedes-Benz can help it, you’ll never have to work in a disgusting car interior again. That’s because the German automaker’s 2014 S-Class features an Active Perfuming System in the glove box, designed to keep cabins smelling fresh and fantastic.
According to a recent BBC Autos article highlighting strange high-end options:
One of the car’s more eccentric features is an Active Perfuming System, part of an air-filtration and ionisation packaged called Air Balance. The system, which recalls the luminous perfume sphere in the departed Maybach Zeppelin, promises to pervade the cabin air with one of several exceptional scents, dispensed via tiny cartridges. Occupants can adjust the intensity of the perfuming, or disable the system entirely – a significant step up from a cardboard pine tree on the rear-view mirror. [more]
Odd? Yes. But considering the type of filth we find in customers’ cars, it might not be such a bad idea. Now if they can only come up with a vehicle carpet that vacuums its self…
