SEMA will host a “Student Career Day” at this year’s annual show — with the goal of introducing high school and college students to opportunities in the aftermarket industry.
It will be the third such event in SEMA’s history. The association decided to start hosting career days after a 2016 industry-wide survey revealed that the majority of aftermarket businesses are in need of skilled employees, but don’t know where to find them.
Last year’s career day was such a success, SEMA plans to make it an annual event. “It was exciting to meet the next generation of our industry and see their enthusiasm for what we do. They were all well prepared, confident and educated about our companies,” Kimberly Johnson of ididit LLC told SEMA last year.
More than 650 students are expected to attend this year’s event. At least 35 businesses will be present, with more registering to participate each day.
Registration is free for students and companies.
The 2018 SEMA Show will be held on October 30 – November 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The “Student Career Day” will take place on October 29 from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. For information on how to exhibit or attend, visit SEMA’s website.
