With the TikTok ban possibly going into effect on January 19, many auto upholstery shops are left wondering how to keep things rolling.
For a lot of us, TikTok has become an invaluable tool for highlighting our work and reaching new customers. Trimmers have spent countless hours on the app shooting and editing videos, responding to comments and networking with other pros and potential clients.
Without Supreme Court intervention or an American buyer, TikTok will have to shut down its U.S. operations. Some fear that means losing access to their accounts and videos. But it’s more likely that TikTok users who already have the app will continue to have access to it. But new users won’t be able to download it, and existing ones will no longer be able to receive updates.
It sucks — but don’t panic. There are steps you can take right now to protect your hard work:
1. Save Your Content: Download your TikTok videos and keep them handy. You can reuse them on other platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or even Facebook.
2. Spread Out Your Efforts: Start posting on other apps now. Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are great TikTok alternatives with huge audiences.
3. Build an Email List: Use TikTok while it’s still here to get followers to join your email list. That way, you can stay in touch no matter what happens.
4. Boost Your Website Game: Got a website? Make sure it’s top-notch. Add a gallery of your best work, customer reviews, and even a blog to bring in more visitors.
5. Try Other Apps: Check out apps like Triller, Clapper, or Byte. They might not be as big as TikTok yet, but they could be the next big thing.
Sure, a TikTok ban would shake things up, but it’s also a chance to rethink how you market your business. By diversifying now, you’ll be in a better spot no matter what happens.
Whether TikTok sticks around or not, staying flexible and creative is the name of the game. Take action now, and your auto upholstery shop will keep thriving, TikTok or no TikTok.
