Congratulations to Brian Willingham of BW Upholstery in Phoenix, Arizona, for winning the “Stitch of Excellence Award” at this year’s Grand National Roadster Show.
Each year legendary auto upholsterer Sid Chavers selects his favorite interior at the show and presents the prestigious award to the trim shop responsible for the work. This year, Sid chose a 1934 Ford 40 Tudor.
“I’ve wanted to earn one of these tiny antique sewing machines from Sid Chavers, and custom painted by Vintage Color Studio, since he began giving them out 10 years ago and last night I did just that,” Willingham said in a social media post.
“Thank you again Sid! I will treasure this for the rest of my life,” he added.
The jaw-dropping ’34 sedan was built by Squeegs Customs, a restoration shop in Chandler, Arizona, for vehicle owner Bill Cromling. In addition to the “Stitch of Excellence Award,” the roadster also took home first in class in the category of “104 Street Sedan” and the Sam Foose Memorial Design Award, presented by Chip Foose.
Congrats on the honor, the craftsmanship and the bad ass ride!
