If you haven’t yet made it out to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, you’re missing a lot — including some of the hottest new convertible cars donning soft tops manufactured with fabric from The Haartz Corporation.
Among those soft top models are the:
- 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata – The iconic roadster’s soft top is made from Stayfast C, which features an acrylic square weave facing, rubber inner layer and filament polyester backing. The new Miata is a “North American Car of the Year” finalist.
- 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Denim – This soon-to-be-released model features a unique denim soft top manufactured with Twillfast RPC HT Weave. This fabric is an acoustically enhanced three-ply topping with acrylic twill weave facing, rubber inner layer and polyester dobby backing.
- 2017 Fiat 124 Spider – The newly revived Spider is the most highly anticipated drop top of the next year. Like the Miata, it features the ever-dependable Stayfast C topping and fits like a glove.
Of course, no one should be surprised to see so many new convertible models at the Detroit auto show, as drop tops are making a serious comeback!
In an exclusive interview with The Hog Ring last month, Matt Williams, director of business development at Haartz, explained:
“Our long-term forecast indicates a 39% growth in the convertible market from now to 2021. That’s an increase of 216K soft-top vehicles per year being added by 2021. With new models coming from the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, Range Rover, Rolls-Royce and BWM…the future looks bright for soft-tops.”
As for Haartz’s strong showing at this year’s hottest U.S. auto show, Matt is excited.
“Over the last year we’ve seen more OEMs coming to market with convertibles — Buick being a great example, with the introduction of the Cascada which will go on sale this spring. The auto industry is coming off of its strongest year in almost a decade, it’s great to see more convertible models in automaker lineups.”
Attend the Detroit auto show to see these models and more. The event is being held at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan, and runs through Jan. 24. To learn more about Haartz Corporation, visit Haartz.com.
