In our 70+ years in business, we’ve never seen anything quite like this coronavirus pandemic.
It’s taken a booming U.S. Economy and all but halted it in mere days. From what I’m hearing and experiencing, worldwide sewing machine sales have taken a major hit.
Sewing Machine Industry Trends
All that is selling with regularity is “plain sewers,” which are employed to fabricate medical masks, gowns and shields. There’s minimal profit in these machines. No matter the level (MFG’s- Juki, Brother and Distributors like us). The point being…no OEM/Distributor can survive on the sale of these style units forever. How much profit could there possibly be in a $700 sewing machine?
Make no mistake, we’re all going to survive this and come out stronger. Here comes the but… How long will it take? In the meantime, how many sewing factories are going to close? How many workers are going to lose their jobs? Once recovered, how many businesses will be able to come back and afford jobs to their staff?
NC Carpet Binding’s Approach
There are no definite answers, no magic wands, and no way to predict anything at this stage. There’s only one certainty for us without alternative. It’s what my Grandfather and Father instilled in me. There is no quit; never lay down; never stop. If something needs doing, do it.
My ultimate point here is that NC is going nowhere. We’ll be here no matter what is thrown our way and your way. We won’t be outworked.
