Elite trim shops don’t just upholster car interiors, they fabricate them too. That’s why MasterTech Expo is bringing back its highly acclaimed “Master Fab” educational learning track.
MasterTech Expo — the industry’s premier event for pros to learn custom fabrication trends, tools and techniques — invited a series of experts to teach us how to fabricate jaw-dropping interior panels.
The track is geared toward advanced learners and consists of four learning sessions, which include lectures, practical demonstrations, hands-on learning opportunities and Q&A.
The four sessions are:
Session 1: Advanced Panel Fabrication — You’ll pick up advanced router techniques, efficient manufacturing processes, and new tools and methods to elevate your design ideas. Instructors: Phil Cantu of MTI Acoustics, and Justin Kush and Chris Pate of Mobile Toys Inc.
Session 2: Lighting & Plastics — You’ll learn cutting-edge design techniques that incorporate aluminum, plastics and mesh fabrics to create beautiful interiors. You’ll also learn how to program Arduino-based microcontrollers to create intelligent, responsive lighting that adds character and interactivity to your builds. Instructors: Phil Cantu, Justin Kush and Chris Pate.
Session 3: Metal Fabrication — You’ll gain the skills needed to build interior panels from aluminum and steel, including how to cut, route, shape and polish them for a high-end finish. Instructors: Justin Kush and Levi Green of Hammer Fab.
Session 4: Stitching & Advanced Finishes — You’ll master fundamental and sophisticated upholstery techniques to wrap fabricated panels in a range of materials, including leather. Instructors: Justin Kush and Anthony Medina of Medina’s Interior Design.
The “Master Fab” track is a rare opportunity to learn from successful interior fabricators from across the United States. It’s one of several educational tracks offered at MasterTech Expo. Other tracks include Master Interiors, Digital Design and Business, among others.
The event will take place Mach 3 – 6, 2024 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, Arizona. It’s a must-attend industry event for anyone serious about taking their work and their business to the next level.
