It’s difficult to design show-stopping car interiors without a background in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). That’s why MasterTech Expo is offering a “Digital Bootcamp” focused on 2D CAD fundamentals.
The “Digital Bootcamp” is geared toward automotive professionals with little to no knowledge of CAD, but are interested in learning how mastery of the program could elevate their interior builds.
The bootcamp will consist of four learning sessions, where experts will introduce pros to the necessary programs, show them how they work and answer questions.
The four sessions include:
Session 1: How to Draw in 2D CAD, Part 1 — You’ll master essential CAD skills to efficiently reproduce designs, saving your shop time and resources. You’ll learn how to scale, size and create basic shapes with precision and more. Instructors: Matt Schaeffer of Sound FX and Lee Teeples of Wet Sounds.
Session 2: How to Draw in 2D CAD, Part 2 — You’ll pick up the skills needed to transform basic ideas into precise digital models. Through practical exercises, you’ll discover how to create patterns and more. Instructors: Matt Schaefer, Lee Teeples and Sage Weir of Sounds Good Stereo.
Session 3: Laser Programming — You’ll be introduced to Corel and Lightburn, two software programs you’ll need to design intricate 2D trim and panels. Instructors: Matt Schaefer, Lee Teeples and Sage Weir.
Session 4: Laser Projects — You’ll learn how to apply your newfound CAD skills to CNC routers and laser machines to significantly improve your shop’s ability to deliver elite-level work. Instructors: Alan Lingren of Speed of Sound and Cody Smith of CaMaster.
The “Digital Bootcamp” is one of several educational tracks offered at MasterTech Expo, the industry’s premier event for pros to learn custom fabrication trends, tools and techniques. Other tracks include Master Interiors, Master Fab and High Fidelity Sound, among others.
The event will take place Mach 3 – 6, 2024 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, Arizona. It’s a must-attend industry event for anyone serious about taking their work and their business to the next level.
