Did you know the BMW Z8 features an optional leather-wrapped removable wind deflector? Jalopnik calls it “wonderful overkill.”
The leather on the wind deflector is color-matched to the rest of the car’s interior. “The cover slips over the Z8’s gorgeous roll hoops, with mesh sections behind the open centers, and between the hoops is a central mesh panel that attaches or can be removed with a pair of metal snaps,” Jalopnik says.
It’s beautiful and looks right at home in the Z8’s interior — which is a lot more than you can say for most wind deflectors, which typically look like soulless, cheap plastic afterthoughts. (This one costs $2,500)
“Was there an easier way of doing it? Probably. But for the design-forward Z8, I’m glad BMW went with something more complicated,” Jalopnik says.
What do you think? Is it worth the money or overkill?
