Chevy is recalling 13,464 models of the 2024 and 2025 Corvette C8 over faulty seat belt retractors that increase the risk of injury in a crash.
The automaker says these models are equipped with driver and/or passenger seat belt retractors that may become locked in a stowed position under certain conditions. This makes it impossible to wear the belts correctly, eliminating their effectiveness as a safety feature.
To resolve the problem, Chevy has issued a recall and instructed its dealers to pause deliveries on 2024 and 2025 Corvettes until repairs can be made. But here’s the rub: Chevy doesn’t have the required parts in stock.
Until they’re available, current drivers need to be extremely careful, as they are at higher risk of injury if their vehicles are involved in a crash.
When the inventory problem is resolved, dealers will make the the repairs free of charge, Chevy says.
