Douglass Interior Products is offering a one-of-a-kind scholarship to new and upcoming upholsterers looking to break into the industry — and the perks are freakin’ awesome!
“Having been in the upholstery business since 1978, we have seen this industry change and grow in the most exciting and innovative ways,” Douglass Interior Products said a statement. “We are inspired by the craftsmanship of so many builders we have the privilege to work with, and are more motivated than ever to cultivate the new generation of upholsterers.”
The 2025 Interior Craftsman Scholarship is designed to give new trimmers the tools they need to excel in the craft. To do that, they partnered with craftsmen and companies across the industry to develop an impressive learning program.
The winner of the scholarship will receive:

» Guidance from a Master Craftsman — Receive a 1-week mentorship with Tracey Weaver of Recover Room Hot Rod Interiors in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. (flights and accommodations included)
» VIP Pass to MasterTech Expo — Head to Arizona for MasterTech Expo, the industry’s premier event for pros to learn custom fabrication trends, tools and techniques. (flights and accommodations included)
» Year Long Mentorship — Access to a mentor for one year to bounce ideas off of and connect you with everyone you’ll need to know in the industry.
» Lucky Needle Online Tutorials — Get full access to The Lucky Needle‘s instructional platform, including more than 24 hours of online lessons.
» Street Rod Interiors by Sid Chavers DVD Set — Get a copy of Master Craftsman Sid Chavers’ instructional DVD set, which includes three courses: Seats, Panels and Headliners.
The scholarship is open to new upholsterers who have 5 years or less of experience in the trade.
“We are trying to cultivate the industry with enthusiastic novice upholsterers that will aid in growing the industry for future generations,” said Brodie Smith, National Automotive Sales Manager for Douglass Interior Products. “If you are, or know of, a new upholsterer or someone currently apprenticing at an experienced shop, we would love for them to apply.”
