Fisher Auto Trim & Upholstery is making national headlines for a project they completed for the family of NFL star Patrick Mahomes.
Brittany Mahomes, wife of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, recently took to Instagram to show it off — blue and pink suede bucket seats embroidered with her children’s names in her 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate.
The seats were a surprise for the Mahomes family coordinated by Mcgavock Nissan. They reached out to Marc Fisher of Fisher Auto Trim & Upholstery in Lubbock, Texas, to tackle the project.
Fisher told The Hog Ring he got the seat covers from Katzkin Automotive Leather, which doesn’t typically offer seats in all suede. But after he told them it was for the Mahomes family, they were game.
After the seat covers were delivered, Fisher had them embroidered with the children’s names, Sterling and Bronze, and employed some “Southern engineering” to make them fit over the existing seat covers. He also asked his shop manager Joe to sew on his business labels.
They delivered the project and didn’t think much of it until a few days later when People Magazine did a whole story on Brittany’s custom seat covers, which she raved about on Instagram.
“I couldn’t believe it. It was so hilariously exciting,” Fisher said. “I put it on my Facebook and sent it to everyone I could think of. KCBD 11, our local NBC affiliate, called wanting to interview us.”
The story has since gone viral, making headlines on national and domestic news sites — and has garnered a lot of positive attention for the Texas trim shop, which was founded 50 years ago by Fisher’s grandmother.
Fisher says the attention has yet to bring in new business, but the positive response from his peers and the Lubbock community has been heartwarming.
“The Best part has been the joy it brought to our business family,” he said. “There are 15 of us at the shop and it is like one big family.”
“I have to admit, I really enjoy the braggin’ rights as well.”
