Haartz Corporation, the world’s leading supplier of automotive topping fabrics, recently revealed some exciting news — both the Renault Twingo and BMW 2-Series will feature Haartz soft top fabric!
The Renault Twingo, which features an electric panoramic folding fabric sunroof, will be trimmed in Haartz’ Landmark II topping, which is comprised of an acrylic square weave facing, urethane elastomer inner layer and polyester/cotton backing.
“The Landmark is a great choice for the Twingo,” said Matt Williams, director of business development for Haartz. “It is durable for the variations in weather and air quality in an urban environment, provides a dimensionally stable fit for low profile folding roofs, and is cost effective for the manufacturer.”
Meanwhile, the BMW 2-Series will offer customers the choice of a convertible top trimmed in Haartz Sonnenland A5B/DS-HT or Sonnenland A5B/DS fabric.
The Sonnenland A5B/DS-HT is a high-level acoustic grade topping. The material is a design-enhanced three-ply topping with color contrasting acrylic and polyester facing, rubber inner layer and polyester dobby backing.
The Sonnenland A5B/DS is also a high-level acoustically enhanced three-ply topping, but made of fabric laminate material. The top uses acrylic twill weave facing, rubber inner layer and polyester dobby backing.
“Adding additional lining to the soft-top’s skin helped improve acoustic comfort,” Williams explained, adding that “noise reduction and improved aerodynamics” were the ultimate advantage.
Of course, Renault and BMW aren’t the only automakers trimming their tops in Haartz fabric. In fact, nearly every automaker – from Alfa Romeo to Volvo – sources its topping from Haartz.
Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc. – they all use Haartz! For good reason too, they’re the best!
