Trimmer Leon “Buddy” Kimball Mock, Jr. of Homosassa, Florida, has died at age 77.
Buddy was born on November 4, 1946 in Coral Gables. In the 1970s, with only a ninth grade education, he started an auto body business — which he grew into a multi-million-dollar company. It had three divisions: Buddy’s Auto Trim and Glass focused on repairing auto upholstery and installing accessories; Buddy’s Holiday Vans customized vans; and Buddy’s Holiday Mobility built out high-tech vans for people with disabilities.
Buddy took great pride in customizing vans for people with disabilities, his obituary says. In fact, he was one of the founding members of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA). His business was listed as number 175 in Inc. Magazine’s 500 fastest growing private companies in America in 1988.
In his free time, Buddy enjoyed airboating and guns. Of course, he also adored his family.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mock; children, Steve Rolls and Jodi D’Amico; grandchildren, Kara Rolls, Lauren Pearce and Conner D’ Amico; siblings, Judy Morrow and John Mock; great-grandchilren, Logan and Lane Herrin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
May he Rest in Peace.
