Ineos Automotive has reportedly paused the production of its Grenadier SUV and Grenadier Quartermaster truck because it can’t procure the Recaro seats it needs to complete the builds.
The supply chain problem stems from Recaro Automotive’s bankruptcy filing in June, according to Automotive News Europe. While Ineos declined to name Recaro as the source of the problem, CEO Lynn Calder told the news site that the issue was “a trim part, but one we cannot sell the car without.”
Calder also told Automotive News Europe that production may not resume until early 2025.
The news site believes Recaro is causing the delays. However, other automakers that source their performance seats from Recaro – including Ford, Honda and BMW – have not reported similar issues.
In June, Autocar reported that Recaro employees were surprised by the bankruptcy filing, and that the company’s 215-person workforce is expected to be laid off.
