The 2025 Grand National Roadster Show is set to be one hell of an event — not only because it’s the show’s 75th anniversary, but because Apex Leather will be its official leather supplier and sponsor of its interior awards.
The iconic event, which started its engines in 1950, has become the ultimate proving ground for hot rods and custom builds. With over 600 cars inside seven buildings and over 1,000 outside at the “Granddaddy Drive-In,” it’s a car enthusiast’s paradise.
At the show, custom cars battle for the highly coveted America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award and Al Slonaker Memorial Award, presented by ARP Fasteners. Of course, there are also interior awards up for grabs!
That’s where Apex Leather comes in. “Lots of folks at our past shows have been talking about Apex and we were determined to get them on board for our big 75th,” says Kevin Doyle, executive director of The Grand National Roadster Show. “These best interior award competitions will be fierce and winning it is going to be a big deal.”
Speaking of big deals, Tracy Weaver of Recovery Room Hot Rod Interiors has been a multiple award winner at the Grand Nationals, including Best Interior and a contender for The Stitch of Excellence. He’s also a big fan of Apex Leather and how they run their business. “Jen and her team are rock solid,” Weaver says. “Their relationships with clients and commitment to quality make them a standout in the industry.”
Members of the Hog Ring community may recognize Jen Fedor, vice president of Apex, as she is very active on the show circuit. Her enthusiasm alone helps set her apart. “It’s easy to get excited when you feel a part of something,” she says. “Connecting with our shops and supporting the success of a custom build is what motivates us.”
Sid Chavers, a legend in the auto upholstery craft and the hot rod scene, is also getting excited about the upcoming show.
“I’m thrilled to see Apex Leather sponsoring the Grand National Interior Awards. You can’t have an AMBR award without a knockout interior. Having been in the business for almost 50 years, it’s nice to see trimmers getting the recognition they have long deserved,” Chavers says.
In 2015, Sid in conjunction with the Grand National Roadster Show, launched the Stitch of Excellence Award highlighting the superior craftsmanship and incredible skill that goes into creating these one-of-a-kind interiors. Chavers adds, “I can’t wait to see this year’s fresh builds and pick the next winner of the Stitch of Excellence Award!”

The Grand National Roadster Show is the ultimate stage where every detail matters. The 75th Anniversary Show will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, on January 31 – February 2, 2025. It is sure to be one of their biggest and best so make plans to attend.
