Trimmer Danford Eugene Hoots of New Plymouth, Idaho, has died at age 73.
Danford was born on April 7, 1953, in Galesburg, Illinois, where he lived until relocating with his family to California in 1968. After graduating high school, Danford built a family, moved quite a bit and held several jobs, but found his passion in auto upholstery.
His first job in the industry was with Scotties Auto Upholstery, where he was a manager for 15 years. “Dan was a talented upholster,” his obituary says. “Although he had careers with other companies, his passion was upholstery and held this position his entire life. He enjoyed spending his time upholstering show cars as well as daily drivers taking them to their height of perfection. He believed that if a job is worth doing it’s worth doing right.”
In his off time, Danford enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking his kids to car shows, and even displaying his 1953 ford pick-up at such events. He was also a member of the Early Ford V8 Club and Elks.
Sadly, Danford died on May 16th, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife Marie; son, Doc; daughter, Heather; and many grandchildren who he adorned.
May he Rest in Peace.
